Nanny Playgroup
NANNY PLAYGROUP now on. Currently is running on a Friday morning at the Toowong Community Centre on Josling St, next to Perrin Park. It runs between 9.30 and 11.30am. All nannies around Brisbane are welcome to attend so please call us to find out costs and any information you may like. This is a great way to make new friends and get out and about with the kids. It's also great for the kid's social interaction.

Cooking with the children.
Allow them to make their own breakfast or lunch. Decorating cupcakes. Making play dough or goop, this then allows more activity time by playing with this.

Arts and Crafts.
Such as painting, drawing, making musical instruments, such as shakers (rice in a soft drink bottle).

Music Time.
Allow children to listen and dance to their preferred music. Use musical instruments made at art time and allow them to be used.

Play time.
Children sometimes like their own space, so allow them to have free play. They might enjoy building blocks.

Reading.
Reading to children always occupies the child and helps with the child's cognitive development.

Outings.
Taking the child out allows them to experience the world outside the home. Go on the Ferries, take a bus or train. Southbank is good for a picnic lunch or a swim. Going to a local park. The Science Centre and Museum are a fun day out and a learning experience for the children. Libraries also offer activities especially through the school holiday periods. You can check these out at www.ourbrisbane.com or www.brisbane.qld.gov.au.

There are many ways for the Nanny to encourage, teach, educate and have fun with the children.

As the Nanny, if you are stuck with some ideas on how to entertain the children you are looking after, please contact us, so as we can help.
Screening of Nannies
Our dedicated team of Nannies and Babysitters show high levels of professionalism.

Nannies will have qualifications that will include:
  • Some experience working with children.
  • A valid blue card (this is the criminal check which is conducted by the government department).
  • Undertaken a successful interview by Centenary Nannies. The staff will screen applicants for their appearance, communication skills, knowledge of children, personality and their capabilities.
  • Provided Centenary Nannies with at least two child care references and one character reference, which Centenary Nannies staff will have checked and deemed successful.
  • All nannies should have their own public liability/ insurance. We recommend a company by the name of Nannysure. The underwriter is QBE insurance. Insurance prices cover both $5 and $10 million. The minimum amount to be paid each moth is approx $30 per month. To find out the most accurate information you should call Leanna at Nannysure on 02 9899 2999 or check out nannysure.com.au

Other desirable measures can include:
  • Drivers licence.
  • Current first Aid certificate.
  • Bronze medallion/Life saving certificate.
  • Child Care certifications.
Hiring a Nanny
Step 1: We at Centenary Nannies will discuss with you the client what services you require. A form will be sent to you to sign.

Step 2: A non refundable deposit of $75 will be required if you choose to continue with the services at Centenary Nannies.

Step 3: We at Centenary Nannies will assess Nannies on our database to find who is most appropriate for your family.

Step 4: We will pass on your phone number to the Nannies chosen. From here they will call you to organise a suitable time for an interview with you and the family.

Step 5: After you interview a number of Nannies it is your choice who you decide.

Step 6: It is your duty to inform the company of your choice. You may wish to advise us why you did not choose the other candidates so as we can pass this information onto them. This may help them in future interviews.

Step 7: Now that you have chosen a Nanny the remainder of the placement fee will be due. We do offer a four week payment plan. If you choose to use this please notify us so we can send an invoice each week.

Each position has a trial period of 6 weeks. During this time if you or the Nanny is unhappy with the progress, you can inform the Agency and we can help to organize another replacement at no extra cost. This may happen twice. If after selecting the two Nannies and you are still not satisfied, you will have to start the process again, which will include paying the placement fee again.
